About Me

Sofia Jayne is a Melbourne-based journalist in her graduate year of a Bachelor of Communication with a Major in Journalism and a Minor in Politics at RMIT University. With a passion for amplifying community voices and addressing social and political issues, Sofia has already made significant strides in her career. She recently began working as a receptionist and administrative assistant at Schwartz Media, where she is eager to contribute her skills and further develop her expertise.

Throughout 2023, Sofia led RMIT’s independent student-run publication, The Swanston Gazette, overseeing team management, website administration, and the production of two print editions. While participating in the 2023 ACICIS Journalism Professional Practicum in Jakarta, she interned with Amnesty International Indonesia, broadening her global perspective on pressing issues.

Now serving as a youth editor at Inside Indonesia, Sofia is committed to nurturing emerging talent and crafting compelling stories. She aspires to pursue a career in journalism and foreign correspondence, with a focus on reporting issues affecting women and marginalised communities. Sofia's strengths lie in storytelling, bringing colour and personality to complex political issues.

“We tell ourselves stories in order to live.”
