STORIES BY SOFIA JAYNE
BIO
I am a fourth-year Bachelor of Communications student at RMIT University, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Politics.

I completed the first two years of my degree at La Trobe university where I wrote for upstart online magazine and Trouble Juice. In 2022, I transferred to RMIT, hosted a music radio show called 'The Hoist' on SYN fm, and was a reporter for the RMIT Victorian state election coverage Vic Votes. In 2023, I completed the ACICIS Journalism Professional Practicum in Jakarta, attended seminars with leading media professionals, interned with Amnesty International Indonesia, and volunteered as a Social Media Ambassador. Since I returned to Melbourne, I have operated as the Editor-in-Chief of The Swanston Gazette, RMIT's independent student-run paper, managing all sectors of the publication, including online, print, social media and leading the team of volunteer student journalists and writers.

Throughout my studies, I have sought to gain experience wherever possible, striving to develop my journalistic skills and to produce a portfolio of published work. Whilst I am interested in telling all stories, my writing tends to focus on social and political issues. With each piece, I aim to broaden perspectives in the media by following unique angles and letting the story be guided by the voices who know the issues best.
