About Me
Sofia Jayne is a Melbourne-based graduate journalist from RMIT University. She has interned with The Canberra Times and SBS Audio in Sydney, where she produced a feature story on a domestic violence centre for refugee women in Victoria, which has been translated to Dari. Since March 2024, she has been working as an administrative assistant at Schwartz Media and volunteering as a youth editor for Inside Indonesia. She is also a freelance reporter for Indonesian TV news program SEA Today.
Throughout 2023, Sofia led RMIT’s independent student-run publication, The Swanston Gazette, overseeing team management, website administration and the production of two print editions. While participating in the 2023 ACICIS Journalism Professional Practicum in Jakarta, she interned with Amnesty International Indonesia, broadening her global perspective on pressing issues.
Sofia aspires to pursue a career in journalism and foreign correspondence, with a focus on reporting issues affecting women and marginalised communities. Sofia's strengths lie in storytelling, bringing colour and personality to complex political issues.
